Founder's Story

When Covid hit in 2020, I’d been working out 4 days a week at the gym. Overnight, I found myself, like so many others, locked down in a small two bedroom apartment with my young family. 

To keep my mental and physical health in peak condition, I packed the car with kettle bells, elastics, a skipping rope and boxing bags. Every morning, without fail, I drove to Port Phillip Bay in Melbourne and trained on the beach.

And I set myself a challenge - “I will get in that water every day”.

Rain, storm, hail and shine, I spent at least 5 minutes in the ocean every day for a year and a half. Including through two freezing Melbourne winters. 

I don’t know what I was expecting, but what I found blew my mind!

The cold rush helped me process my day, clear my mind and get out of the stuck covid mindset. I was calm and grounded. I had energy for the rest of the day, even after intense training. And the exercise recovery was significant. 

After Covid I started a new routine at a gym equipped with ice baths and saunas. I would train, then jump in the ice bath for 5 and a half minutes, sauna for 10-20 minutes and do breathwork, then ice bath again. 

I had never experienced mental clarity like that before in my life. 

About Us

Unfortunately, the ice baths were unreliable, weren’t maintained well and had inconsistent temperatures and I switched gyms. For weeks I couldn’t put my finger on why I felt so stressed and reactive.

It only hit me 3 months later, in an ice bath at a friend’s house. Out of practice, my body immediately went into panic. But I forced myself to breathe slowly and refound that flow state.

And that’s the genius of it. When you start your morning calmly breathing through that rush, you hop out refreshed and energised. 

But your nervous system is also primed to move calmly through any stresses of the day. 

Since ice bathing, if I have a terrible night’s sleep, or I’m stressed about family, finances or business, I can now go instantly into that flow state. I am totally reset when I get out. 

When I realised how much ice baths had optimised my mental and physical performance I knew I HAD to bring this to more people.
