Ice Bath Maintenance & Care Guide

  • Cold Therapy
  • Ice Baths

An ice bath is more than just a recovery tool — it’s an investment in your health and performance. With the right care, your ice bath will deliver years of safe, clean, and reliable use.

Water Hygiene & Filtration

  • Filter System: Use the built-in filter on your ice bath chiller (or optional filter attachment) to continuously circulate and clean your water. Replace or clean filters every 2–4 weeks, depending on usage.

  • Treatment Solutions: We recommend adding spa-grade sanitising tablets or drops only while the ice bath is drained and not connected to the chiller. This ensures the solution mixes evenly in the tub without entering the chiller system. Avoid harsh chemicals like bleach, which can damage components.

  • Pre-Plunge Prep: To keep your water fresher for longer, we recommend a quick rinse or shower before entering the ice bath — especially if you’ve been training outdoors, are muddy, or heavily perspiring. This simple step greatly extends water clarity and quality.

Tip: Clear water isn’t always clean water — consistent filter care, proper treatment, and smart pre-plunge habits keep your ice bath at its best.

Cleaning Routine

  • Niseko (Cedar + Stainless):

    • Wipe cedar exterior with a damp cloth; avoid harsh cleaners that strip natural oils.

    • Treat cedar panels periodically with a wood-safe oil to preserve colour and prevent cracking.

    • Stainless steel tub: clean with mild soap and water; dry with a soft cloth to prevent spotting.

  • Plunge (Military-Grade PVC):

    • Use mild soap and water with a non-abrasive sponge.

    • Rinse thoroughly and let air dry before refilling.

    • Avoid sharp objects or abrasive brushes to protect the PVC lining.

Temperature & Usage Guidelines

  • Operating Range: Our ice baths chill as low as 0°C depending on your choice of ice bath chiller, even producing ice. For recovery, depending on your experience we recommend 3–10°C.

  • Session Frequency: Daily use is fine — but don’t keep the chiller running at extreme lows continuously when not in use.

  • Outdoor Setup: Keep under cover and out of direct sun to protect water quality and prolong unit life.

Seasonal Care

  • Warm Climates: Sanitiser effectiveness may reduce faster — check more frequently.

  • Cold Climates: Drain fully if not in use to prevent freezing damage in hoses and chillers.

  • Long Breaks: Drain, clean, and dry fully. Use the fitted cover for Niseko or store the Plunge deflated in a dry area.

Troubleshooting

  • Cloudy Water: Clean filters and refresh water treatments.

  • Unusual Odour: Indicates bacteria — drain, deep clean, and refill.

  • Chiller Not Cooling Well: Clear vents, allow 1.5 m clearance, clean filters. Persistent issues? Contact our service team.

Extending the Life of Your Ice Bath

  • Always shower before use to reduce oils and sweat in the water.

  • Use the fitted cover when not in use.

  • For the Plunge, ensure it’s fully inflated before filling to avoid stress on seams.

For the Niseko, keep cedar oiled and stainless tub dried after long soaks.
